Derek leads AI and technology strategy at Springline Advisory, helping the firm use emerging technologies to improve operations, enhance client service, and support growth. He brings more than 20 years of professional services experience, including nearly 14 years at Sparq, where he served as Chief Technology Officer and built the firm’s AI program. His experience connecting technology, people, and business strategy helps Springline identify new opportunities for innovation and efficiency.
What excited you about joining Springline?
Accounting and advisory is at an inflection point; automation and AI are changing how the work gets done. Springline has the scale to invest in that change and the team to turn it into better service for clients, and I wanted to help lead it.
Describe what Scale + Soul means to you.
Scale is the shared platform, tools, and buying power that no single firm could build alone. Soul is the judgment and client relationships our people bring, and good technology, AI included, should give them more time for that work, not less.
What unique perspective do you bring to Springline?
I’ve seen the AI shift up close in digital product engineering, where the way teams build changed almost completely less than two years. I bring that experience to help Springline adopt AI at a pace that works for our people and turns into measurable results for our clients.
Aside from family and friends, what’s one thing you can’t live without?
My early-morning workouts. It’s where I clear my head and plan the day before the calls start.
