Asian Food Facility
A national food and beverage manufacturer wanted to create a new facility for its line of Asian foods sold to restaurants and in grocery stores, and needed to choose a location for the plant. The company turned to the Site Selection team at Springline.
The Springline team started by meeting with company leadership to identify the details of the project and the company’s goals for the investment. The team then conducted a nationwide search, which was quickly narrowed down to locations in the Midwest. After evaluating various communities and the access to infrastructure, public transportation, utilities, child care and available talent, the team identified four possible key sites. Company leaders toured each of the sites with the Springline team, meeting with community leaders, chambers of commerce, and others to compare and contrast the business-friendly climates and local support. The team then used a modeling system to numerically rank all four, identifying an obvious number one choice. Yet, the company ultimately chose the bottom choice of the four, due in large part to involvement from the governor of that particular state.
The chosen site initially lacked the necessary talent pipeline, so the Springline team worked aggressively to secure a robust package from the state to offset training costs, allowing the company to elevate the benefits package it could offer. As a result, the company has been able to adequately staff the new plant in the location company leaders preferred.
