Describe what Scale + Soul means to you.
Scale, to me, is working smarter, not just harder. The measure I watch closest is engagement: people who want to join, then contribute, then see that contribution move the needle. Keeping people empowered to build as you grow is everything. And scale is also a well-regarded brand that extends beyond individual heroics.

Soul is all about people. It’s holding your head up high knowing you’re taking care of your team — and knowing they’ll take care of the company in turn. Inside our walls it’s simple: doing the right things for the right reasons, for our owners, our employees, and our clients. And for the clients we serve, soul is care that matches the magnitude of what they’ve entrusted to us. Their organization isn’t just an entity that pays tax or requires an audit — it’s their wealth, and often their purpose. Caring for it that way is a completely different job, and it’s one we’re built for. As we scale, that care shouldn’t just hold — it should compound.  That’s soul.

We were careful in selecting Springline, and they were careful in selecting us. We intend to wear the badge proudly, build the brand right here in Wisconsin, and bring more people along with us.

What unique perspective do you bring to Springline?
For our clients: I’ve lived many of the decisions they face. I’ve sat on their side of the table, and that changes how you sit in the room with them.

For the firm, two things come to mind. The biggest is a builder’s perspective. Scale is incredibly hard. Soul is easy to trade away. Most people believe growing the value of a company has to come at the cost of its culture — that the trade-off is just the price of admission. We’ve lived a different story. Our transformation wasn’t theoretical: in the past decade we grew the value of this firm tenfold, and our culture and brand came out stronger, not weaker. We’re proof the trade-off isn’t a law of nature. It’s part of why Scale + Soul being a directive from Springline’s leadership means something to me — it’s not a slogan we’re adopting; it’s a road we’ve already traveled, and now it’s a North Star we get to follow.

The other is implementation. I have real respect for anyone who can paint a vivid picture of the future — vision matters, and it’s rarer than people think. But vision comes to life through attention to implementation: connecting the dots, seeing the pathways, sequencing the work. That’s where my mind naturally goes, and it moves fast there. What I hope to bring to Springline is the ability to be a steward of both — the vision and the execution.

Aside from family and friends, what’s one thing you can’t live without?
Water. In high school I kept a subscription to Coastal Living magazine — a Wisconsin kid dreaming about shorelines. It turns out I didn’t need a coast. We moved our young family to a home on a small lake in the Kettle Moraine, and I didn’t realize how much it would pull on me, in every season. Summer, we paddle it and walk around it. My kids fish it, and I could watch that for hours. When the water turns cold in the fall, I’ll cold plunge. Winter, we skate on it. Friends and family collect around it all year. Snow-covered or catching a sunset off the water, I love pure, clean water. It’s become a part of my life I never quite expected, and one I’ve come to appreciate fully.
