Describe what Scale + Soul means to you.
It’s often thought that when you choose a firm—either as a client or as a team member—you must make a critical choice. You can choose a small firm that cares about you, but offers limited resources or a large firm with abundant resources, but where you will be treated as “just a number.” Our vision at Springline is incredibly intentional about charting a different course. One where clients receive both attentiveness and care, along with the valuable resources they need to help them move forward. One where team members engage in an exciting firm culture and sense of community that lifts them up each day, while also providing the resources and future opportunities that match their career ambitions. The vision of Scale + Soul is foundational to what we’re building at Springline.
What’s one of your favorite career moments?
When our firm was first awarded “Best Accounting Firms to Work for” by Accounting Today and “Great Places to Work” by the GPTW organization in the same year. I’m blessed to work with an amazing group of talented, passionate, and caring professionals. Making sure we build a firm they enjoy and are excited to be part of is something I think about every day. These awards are based on an anonymous survey of our team members and are an acknowledgment that we’re on the right track. What’s also noteworthy is that these surveys were conducted after we joined Springline, which speaks so highly of our team’s experience after this major milestone -76 and their excitement about the future.
What unique perspective do you bring to Springline?
I was a small business owner before merging the company I founded with MarksNelson. As a result, I have great empathy and appreciation for what our clients are experiencing and what they want from an accounting and business advisory firm. I expected my advisors to have the technical expertise and processes to timely and accurately handle compliance matters for my business, but I also desired more. I wanted them to truly get to know our people, understand our business, and maintain an awareness of our goals. I wanted them to provide guidance and relevant resources as we navigated major decisions and executed on our strategic growth plan. And I needed them to help us look forward, not just backward. I’m happy to say these guiding principles and mindset for building strong, trusted relationships and providing our clients valuable compliance and advisory services is alive and well in our firm today.
